 JEE - ADVANCED

From 2013, JEE-ADVANCED is the Entrance Examination to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) instead of IIT-JEE which was conducted since 1960. The nature of the examination will almost be the same as that of IIT-JEE.

JEE ADVANCED is administered once a year to about 1.5 lakh students across the nation who have been selected from the JEE MAINS examination. The JEE ADVANCED exam is typically conducted about 2 months after the JEE MAINS exam. In 2014, the JEE ADVANCED exam is scheduled on May-25, 2014. The syllabi of JEE ADVANCED is a sub-set of the JEE MAINS exam. The JEE ADVANCED has 100 chapters in PCM and JEE MAINS has 110 chapters. However, the level of difficulty of questions asked in JEE ADVANCED is higher than that of JEE MAINS. The exam pattern of JEE ADVANCED is not declared and is a surprise every year. The exam pattern typically comprises of different types of questions like Single-Answer MCQs, Multiple Answer MCQs, Reading Comprehension Qs, Assertion-Reasoning Qs, Integer-type Subjective Qs, Matric-Match Type Qs etc.

The JEE ADVANCED exam is widely regarded as the most challenging undergraduate examination in the world. This is not due to the comprehensive syllabi but due to the genre and level of problems asked in it. The JEE ADVANCED tests the fundamentals and problems solving ability of the student. To crack the JEE ADVANCED exam, the aspirant needs to be thorough with the fundamentals of the subjects & have strong problem solving abilities. Therefore, guidance is necessary to excel in the JEE ADVANCED.

The past 20 years has seen the era of mushrooming classroom coaching in the domain of JEE. A major lacuna in classroom coaching cultures throughout the nation is the lack of an effective and robust Testing system. Due to this lack, the IIT aspirant often does not perform in the heat of the exam despite being well aware of the concepts and principles of the subjects. It is imperative for the student to write a large number of Tests to gain confidence and a seasoned temperament to crack the JEE ADVANCED.

To fill this glaring void, the IITian’s Prashikshan Kendra which is the premier academy for Engineering Entrance Exams in Pune along with Smart Computer Services has launched Online Testing Systems for all Engineering Entrance exams under the brand name of PARIKSHAN.

A score of 50% and above in the JEE ADVANCED is typically good enough to secure a Top 6000 AIR in OPEN category and a score of 60% and above for Top 2000 AIR. A score of 70% and above usually fetches a Top 500 AIR.
